Ourense, October 15, 2025—In its effort to improve the management and control of water resources, the Miño-Sil Hydrographic Confederation -Sil (CHMS), an autonomous body under the Ministry for Ecological Transition and Demographic Challenge (MITECO), has completed the installation of a new water level measuring station on the Barbaña River in the city of Ourense, thereby expanding the Automatic Hydrological Information System (SAIH) network.
With an investment of €48,381, the new station allows essential hydrometeorological data to be recorded and transmitted in real time for use and analysis at the Basin Control Center (CECU).
These actions not only seek to improve emergency response capabilities, but also to optimize sustainable water use to minimize the impact on climate change and prevent extreme weather events.
