The Miño-Sil Hydrographic Confederation formalises the contract for the extension of the SAIH network in the river Sil, as it passes through the municipality of Toreno in Leon.

The POCTEP Risc_Plus project will improve the management of water resources in the river Sil and anticipate emergency response, providing real-time data and greater security to local communities.

The Presidency of the Miño-Sil Hydrographic Confederation (CHMS) has announced the formalisation of the contracts for the execution of the works to extend the Automatic Hydrological Information System (SAIH) network on the river Sil, specifically in the town of Toreno, in the province of León. These actions are part of the European project POCTEP Risc_Plus co-financed by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) within the framework of the Interreg VI A Spain – Portugal (POCTEP) 2021-2027 programme.

The main objective of these works is to improve and expand the hydrological monitoring network of the river Sil, in order to optimise the management of water resources and ensure a more effective response to potential water risks.

These actions improve the safety and well-being of local communities by providing more accurate and real-time data on hydrological conditions.

The continued cooperative effort between Spain and Portugal is key to addressing common challenges in water management, resulting in a significant impact and advancement in the capacity of both countries to handle water-related emergencies.
