Drawing Contest: "My River and Me"
Contest Objective
The aim of the contest is to raise awareness among children about the importance of rivers in their environment—such as the Miño or the Limia—by promoting attitudes of respect and care for these ecosystems. Through drawing, students are encouraged to reflect on and express what rivers mean to them: how they imagine them, how they enjoy them, and how they believe we should protect them.
This initiative aims to reinforce the values of the POCTEP RISC\_PLUS project from an early age by promoting awareness of the shared natural heritage between Spain and Portugal. At the same time, it seeks to raise awareness about the risks associated with the degradation of rivers, such as drought or pollution, and to highlight the importance of their protection. As a cross-border activity, it also fosters cooperation between both countries around a common cause: water as an essential resource.
In this way, the contest encourages students to discover that unity is strength, and that the European Union plays a key role in advancing joint solutions to the challenges of climate change. It promotes collaboration between neighboring regions from an early age.
The actions carried out under the POCTEP RISC\_PLUS project are co-financed by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) through the Interreg VI A Spain – Portugal (POCTEP) 2021-2027 program, which promotes cross-border cooperation projects with the support of the European Union.
