The University of Vigo, through the Ephyslab research group, reinforces its commitment to environmental education and climate risk management within the framework of the European POCTEP RISC PLUS project. Researchers Helena Barreiro, Diego Fernández and José González Cao gave a talk at the IES de Ponte Caldelas, to bring students closer to the keys to climate change and its impact on extreme events, with special attention to floods.
During the session, they explained the evolution of these phenomena and presented the Early Warning System, an innovative tool developed within the framework of the RISC PLUS project. This system is designed to anticipate and mitigate the effects of floods, improving the preparation and resilience of the affected territories.
