  • Several monitoring stations have been launched by CHMS.
  • In the coming months, the impact of climate change on the Miño-Sil river basin region will be assessed.

Porto, July 4, 2025 – On July 3, 2025, the 17th partner meeting of the RISC_PLUS project took place at the headquarters of APA – ARH Norte, in Porto. This initiative is co-financed by the INTERREG VI A – POCTEP program and is considered strategically important within the framework of cross-border cooperation for the management of risks associated with climate change.

The event brought together representatives from the four partner entities of the project: the Miño-Sil River Basin Authority (CHMS), the Portuguese Environment Agency (APA), the Faculty of Engineering of the University of Porto (FEUP), and the University of Vigo (UVIGO).

During the meeting, a thorough review of the project’s implementation status was conducted, both from a technical and financial standpoint. Among the key milestones highlighted were the commissioning of several monitoring stations by CHMS, as well as significant progress in flood and drought risk analysis—crucial elements for enhancing the resilience of territories in the face of extreme climate events.

Another key point of the meeting was the definition of the scope of the socio-economic study planned under Activity 4, which will be developed in the coming months. This study will assess the impacts of climate change on the population and economic activities in the region, providing a comprehensive perspective to guide the project’s actions.

Special emphasis was also placed on the communication strategy, given the project’s strategic relevance at both the regional and European levels. It was agreed to strengthen dissemination efforts to ensure greater visibility and public understanding of the project’s results and benefits.

Finally, the partners reaffirmed their commitment to active and coordinated cooperation during the remaining months of implementation, with the aim of consolidating the progress made and ensuring the achievement of the established objectives.

The RISC_PLUS project continues to make progress as a benchmark in cross-border cooperation for integrated climate risk management, promoting innovation, shared knowledge, and territorial protection.
