The Miño-Sil Hydrographic Confederation (CHMS), an autonomous body under the Ministry for Ecological Transition and the Demographic Challenge (MITECO), has just completed the installation of a new water level measurement station on the Barbaña River in the city of Ourense, expanding the Automatic Hydrological Information System (SAIH) network.
With an investment of 48,381 euros, the new station enables the recording and real-time transmission of essential hydrometeorological data for operation and analysis at the Basin Control Center (CECU).
“These actions not only seek to improve emergency response capacity, but also to optimize the sustainable use of water to minimize the impact of climate change and prevent extreme weather events,” the confederation states.
