POCTEP highlights the importance of Risc_ Plus on World Environment Day as a risk prevention project

RISC PLUS – Resilience Against Flood and Drought Risks Derived from Climate Change Impact in the International Basins of the Minho and Limia Rivers: Prevention, Preparation, and Digitalization

 

RISC_PLUS focuses its objectives on expanding and improving the results of the RISC_ML project, approved under the POCTEP 2014-2020 framework for the international Miño – Lima basin. Among these results are the increase in monitoring points for automatic hydrological and water quality information networks, new drought indices, an inventory of water resources and the impact of climate change on them, a joint special drought plan, improvements to Decision Support Systems, and the development of a beta version of an early warning system for floods, as well as enhancements to data acquisition and processing systems, among others.

The main objective of this project is to continue progressing, improving resilience against climate change, and moving towards a unified hydrological plan for the international basin in accordance with the Water Framework Directive.

The planned actions focus on prevention, preparation, and better management of flood and drought risks caused by the impact of climate change in the international basins of the Minho and Limia rivers, while also advancing the development of a joint hydrological plan in accordance with Article 13.2 of the Water Framework Directive.
