Members of the Interreg Spain-Portugal Monitoring Committee (POCTEP) 2021-2027 made a visit yesterday to the SAIH-SAICA station on the Tamuxe River, O Rosal (Pontevedra), within the framework of the RISC_PLUS project, co-financed by the Programme.

The head of the Hydrological Planning Office of the CHMS and project director, Carlos Guillermo Ruíz del Portal, explained to the attendees the different activities being carried out within the framework of the aforementioned project. Likewise, the operation of this new monitoring station on the Tamuxe River in O Rosal was demonstrated, which collects and transmits in real time data on the water level in the riverbed, ambient temperature and rainfall, as well as physical-chemical quality parameters such as ammonium, dissolved oxygen (DO), pH, turbidity and conductivity.

During the visit, committee members were able to see in situ the different components of the facilities and asked questions about various aspects of their operation. All this data is sent in real time to the Basin Control Center (CECU), which is located in the city of Ourense, and which will be used to issue warnings to Civil Protection services and 112 so that they can, if necessary, implement their protection and prevention plans.

The station is located in the Area of Significant Potential Flood Risk (ARPSI). This station will help prevent and avoid potential damage to people and property that could be caused by floods.
